VERY BAD INSURANCE COMPANY, DON'T BUY THEIR PRODUCTS

I was involved in a car accident on the 7 September 2019. I had been with Prime Meridian Direct (PMD) since 2015. I sent my claim to PMD on the 9 September 2019 which was approved after 1 month and two 2 weeks later. After approval, I found out that on R45 357.50 was approved for fixing the car. The additional costs of repairs from the panel beaters was R25 828.38. when these additions were sent to PDM for approval, they then said I am capped at R47 000.00 as this was the amount of money I had accumulated prom 2015.

I am really failing to understand what is the point of calling it insurance if I can only claim the amount of money I have accumulated. It really doesn't make sense.

To this date, PMD doesn't want to pay for the additional costs since these are not within R47000.00

Dear Njabulo N,

Thank you for taking the time to query your approved claim amount.

The Prime MotorTHRIFT product you chose is a specific risk cover that, at an affordable premium, provides a monthly growing cover. A review of your purchase call has confirmed that the nature of this benefit was explained to you.

Our Market Conduct Team will be in contact with you to offer further clarity.

You will be pleased to know that the excess on our Comprehensive policy reduces to zero in a short number of months.

Assuring you of our continued best endeavours on your behalf.
