Three Weeks Since Theft Claim Submitted - No Resolution and Poor Communication

I am extremely dissatisfied with the handling of my theft claim, which was reported on 31 July 2026.

It has now been three weeks, and despite submitting all the required documentation, there has been no resolution and very little meaningful communication regarding the progress of my claim.

My biggest concern is the lack of proactive updates. Throughout this process, I have had to repeatedly follow up with PMD to obtain information on my claim, rather than being kept informed as the process unfolds. As a client, I should not have to continuously chase updates on a matter as serious as a vehicle theft claim.

The only feedback I have consistently received is that I need to wait for TransUnion to reflect the vehicle as ****** before the claim can proceed. While I understand that verification processes form part of claims handling, I have not been provided with any clear timeline, explanation of what steps are being taken to move the claim forward, or reassurance that the matter is receiving the necessary attention.

Three weeks after reporting the theft, I am still without a resolution and without clear communication about the status of my claim. This experience has been both frustrating and disappointing.

I hope that by raising this complaint publicly, the matter will receive the attention it deserves and be resolved as a matter of urgency.

Hello Natasha N,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We recognise that being without your car while a theft claim is under assessment can be frustrating.

At Prime, we remain committed to assessing theft claims thoroughly, mainly as they require additional validation and verification steps, including confirmation from external parties and law enforcement records.

Our records show that we are awaiting the SAPS circulation record and for the updated information to be reflected in their verification system. While this process falls outside of our direct control, we will continue to monitor the matter closely.

Our Market Conduct Team will provide you with more detailed feedback regarding the current status of your claim and will address the concerns you have raised about communication and updates.

Unlike its competitors, Prime offers an excess that reduces to zero over 36 months when you remain claim-free, providing even greater value and peace of mind.

Committed to resolving your concern with care.

Kind regards,
The Prime SA Team
