Prime SA excess fee ****
I’m not happy about Prime insurance SA, My car was ****** my excess fee was R6000 now they’re saying I should pay R20 000. They’re **** why they change of price now that my car is ******? Is it my fault that it’s theft? I didn’t sign for R20 000.

05 Jun 2026, 09:16Hello Sithabiso S,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how worrying and frustrating it feels when the excess on a claim appears higher than what you expected.
At Prime SA, we take pride in ensuring that clear and transparent explanations of how excesses work, so our clients can make informed decisions when purchasing their policies. Our goal is to help clients understand their cover and costs before and during the claims process so there are no surprises at claim stage.
Our records indicate that your reduce-to-zero main driver excess has decreased to R5,660.00 from R6,000.00 and has been app**** as such. Furthermore, we indicated to you when you purchased the policy that an early claims excess will apply when you institute a claim before paying your 7th premium. The early claims excess and the driver excess then totals an amount of R15,840.00 not R20,000.00.
Our Market Conduct team has been alerted and is already in contact with you to provide further clarity and a detailed explanation of how the excesses work in practice and how they are app**** to your claim.
Unlike its competitors, Prime offers an excess that reduces to zero over 36 months when you remain claim-free, providing even greater value and peace of mind.
Committed to resolving your concern with care.
Kind regards,
The Prime SA Team
