Prime insurance ****
The sequence of events are as follows. My son was in a accident, and according to Prime records he was insured by the time of the accident due to the policy that was lapsed due to non payment of the premiums. I do not dispute this. However your contractor that was towing him in gave him the assurance that he is. The given excuse that it was over a weekend and the contractor could not determine that the policy was not longer valid is a shortcoming of Prime and not my son.
Putting that aside, the costs for towing are on average based on the AA rates, between R500 to R1000 if it is a lengthy distance, which in this case it wasn't are taken into account nowhere and a amount of R4250 are given for tow in costs, which is by all means very extravagant. It was put to my son on various calls, that tow in costs plus storage fees are for his account, before the car would be released, and it was made clear to him that Prime will not help in terms of compensation of any kind because of the lapsed policy.
On the 15th of April, I called to confirm that my son wants his car back, and although under protest is willing to pay the Breakdown costs under protest. Big was my surprise Yesterday, When Prime re-activated the policy by debiting my sons account to the amount of R1400 via debit order. Arrogantly stating that should have cancelled it earlier, and the refusal to reverse the debit order.
South-Africans deserve better than this. Never would I ever recommend Prime insurance. They are by far the worst
