Poor Customer Service

Prime Meridian Direct (PMD) Claim No. CL*** Complainant: G. Phillips

Good Day I would like to complain about bad service I received since i lodged a claim on the 14th July 2019 to date my car is still with the panelbeaters.

Imagine this frustration of your vehicle being at the panelbeaters for so long and finally when the mechanical part was to be done they took time to respond to agree with the panelbeaters to take the car for diagnostic tests at VW out of frustration and desperation I gave the panelbeaters the go ahead to take my car to VW for diagnostic test since PMD didnt want to. I was then send a quote of how much the repairs will cost and was also told that PMD will not cover the repairs as damages were pre existing prior to the accident, I can confirm that the car was in a good driving condition with no issues before the accident, there is no way I would have been able to drive the car with existing damages. I then took it upon myself to communicate with VW who confirmed that the damages was caused by the impact of the accident. I therefore emailed PMD which just responded that my complained is taken forward and that it will take maximum of 40 days to be resolved. Take note that my car has been at the panelbeaters for 5 months in this mess and I am told to wait for another 40 days max. I Later remembered that I have a mechanical warranty also with PMD since they don't want to repair the accident damages from the main policy because they claim it's pre-existing so let them repair it with the mechanical warranty which they also disapproved for reasons Unknown to me. I am covered both for mechanical warranty and for accident and both don't want to repair the car, they did the panel beating but they don't want to give me back a running car.

Now I must pay for the diagnostic tests at VW, the towing of the car to and from VW, repair the car but my policy was initially approved. I ended up so desperate that I asked them just to give me back a running car but to no avail.

I was then send a quote which has damages that are over R40 000.00

My car has always been in a driveable condition prior to the accident, I can't understand how a car can drive with over R40 000 worth of pre existing mechanical problems, I am hoping to here from you soonest as this has been a frustrating process.

Regards Mr G.N Phillips

HI!

Be advised that this complained was raised before and Peter requested I resubmit but by than your office had already rep**** that you PMD will give me feedback on the 5th of December so can you please stick to your own said date.

And just for your update the panelbeater is done with the body part meaning I must tow the car to a machenic who most of them told me they close shop on 13 Dec till early Jan and I really need it before or on that date.

Dear Gratitude P,

Thank you for your post.

We are confident that we would have been able to resolve your enquiry internally, however, you have simultaneously referred the matter to the Office of the Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance.

In these circumstances, we are required to direct all communication regarding your claim via the OSTI’s office and are obliged to await their findings which we shall, of course, respect, but which will likely take some more time to receive.

Nonetheless, should you have any unrelated queries, we are more than happy to assist you.

You no doubt remember that unlike many other insurers, with PMD comprehensive cover your claims excess reduces to zero - and it does so within a surprisingly short period of time.

Kind regards,

The PMD Team
