PMD horrible and pathetic customer service

I had an accident on the morning of the 23rd of October 2022. I was driving in a village which has a clay soil and the surface was muddy due to rain. While driving the vehicle slipped and went over the rock on the side of the pathway. About 5 Kim’s later the vehicle lost power and switched off. I brought my insurance PMD into the picture the following day for repairs of the vehicle as it had a dent as well. The car was towed on 24 October 2022. I was then interrogated by PMD and asked to send proof of vehicle service, contact numbers for people I interacted with on the day if the accident, etc. I supp**** all of this but they still could not make a decision. I was calling them almost everyday. Towards end of November 2022 they then said my claim is approved but the cost to repair body work is smaller than my excess which they deliberately increased with the following excuses; - dangerous driving (does it mean Pmd clients must not drive in village pathways when they visit family because it is deemed dangerous driving ?) - inadequate evidence( evidence was given and the car has dents- isn’t that enough)

I asked them about the engine which seized after the accident but they refused to include it. Question is why did they lift the car up to inspect it and why did they want the service proof?

I then told them to repair it even with the excess more the costs to repair but they refused. On the 22nd of December 2022 I asked them to bring back my car . They told me the repairer is closed for holidays. The repairer opened on 3 January 2023 but PMD still did not bring my car. I called them several times and all I got were promises to revert back to me. I sent emails but they were not responded to. I’m stuck I don’t know how to get the car back. I still pay their premiums because I’m waiting for my car to be returned before I cut my ties. They just don’t care about my issue. This weekend marks 3 months with the car in their possession and it will come back not fixed. I regret why I left Absa Idirect for them. Cheap is expensive indeed. This is the worst experience from an insurer I have ever had to endure in 22 years of owning a car.
