PMD does not deserve even a single star!
It's been two months and 6 days to be precise since I lodged my claim after my car was involved in an accident and in those months PMD would be asking for a new document for me to submit almost every time they called. They even asked for my service record for the car(whether my car was being serviced or not had a bearing on my claim,it appeared (unbeknown to me).Luckily mine was serviced regularly. Then they started sending me documents to sign and every other day a new agent would call me asking for the same documents as if there was no system in place for them to check what was outstanding and what was not. Calling you every day is meant to make you feel like something is being done but I soon realised they were just buying time and meanwhile my car was just sitting in some dock(an assessment centre recommended by them) somewhere accruing storage fees and I was naive to this until it finally hit me that if they rejected my claim I could be asked to pay for such fees(imagine how much one would have to pay after so many months).
In the final stages a person purported to be the investigator is then assigned to your case to continuously barrage you with the same questions every time he calls you(more like a prosecutor trying to 'catch' a ******** in a lie) but then again I had nothing to hide and told the same story over and over again until it started to annoy me. There I was a paying customer (and they are hasty when it comes to collecting money from you through debit orders. It's the exact opposite when it comes to honouring claims. 2 months it's been and I'm still counting) and yet this time around I'm treated like a ******** and interrogated every time I'm called. You cooperate intially(for two months I did) until you realize that these guys are actively searching for a loophole not to pay and might actually have no intention of honouring their obligation to you.
To cut the long story short, I got to a stage where I could not take it anymore. I had had it to my neck and couldn't tolerate anymore of it and I bluntly told them that I had signed enough documents and had been interrogated enough and it was time for them to deliver their promised service to me(honouring my claim). My right to human dignity and self respect would not have me go through more of it and I demanded closure and they threatened to reject my claim and I said they should do as they wish and release my car. They told me I would have to pay for the towing fees and I don't know what other things they will ask for me to pay.
I wish I hadn't been so frugal and had insured my car with bigger and more well known players in the insurance business.I suppose they have more to lose because their reputations would be on the line. This experience has traumatized me.I never expected this sort of treatment because never did I miss a payment and I honestly thought I was covered if my car was involved in an accident.
You be the judge and tell me if PMD is a good insurance company. Personally,I FEEL that it does not deserve any star at all but HelloPeter doesn't seem to have that option.
