Pathetic claims policy (Delay tactics)

In early March 2017 a colleague bumped into my car. He is is insured with Prime Meridian Direct (PMD). He lodged a claim with them. To this day they have not reached a decision. As the third party I have to wait for my colleagues claim to be approved and then have my claim assessed for 21 business days plus another 10 days for management to reach a decision. This means that I have to wait for at least 3 months with a damaged car and there is no guarantee at all after these 3 months.

Is that even legal? Is that how insurance is done? I have tried to contact the person who was assigned to my case (Siphokazi) and could not reach her in spite calling on a daily basis. Now my case has been re-assigned to someone else (Nonhlanhla) and she is the who at least explained to me.

My advice to people is to be careful when choosing an insurer. Im sure there are some people who have had goid experiences with PMD but im sure majority have been shocked my PMD tactics (policy). In my own opinion, they are an insurance company who would do anything not to pay a claim and delay and frustrate you until you give up. They really push the line between illeagal and legal.

Hello takaballack,
Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. Your unease is of great importance to us as we strive to provide world class service during all our interactions.
We often find that it is due to a high excess charged at a Third Party's own Insurer that causes them to claim elsewhere. In light of this we offer our clients zero excess when they claim, which means there is no surprise excess payment when submitting a claim and our clients are not inconvenienced by having to claim from a Third Party Insurer.
Nonetheless, as you are aware, whilst we strive to assist third parties as soon as possible after you have been involved in an accident with one of our policyholders, the validation of our client's claim has to be completed first.
Our claims team have confirmed that our policyholder’s claim has been approved and that they will continue to provide you with regular updates regarding the progress of your claim.
Assuring you of our continued best endeavours.
Kind Regards,
The PMD Team
