Nightmare of lodging a Claim with Prime Meridian Direct

Good day, My name is Nathi Mkololo, I was involved in an accident on 31 May 2019. Only on August PMD came back to me and declined my claim based on that i was under the influence during my accident.

However PMD failed to explain this to me ;- 1. No where in the accident report it states that i was under the influence of alcohol to be exact. 2. I was never asked to plea at court as i was prepared to defend myself, therefore i found it confusing that PMD can find me guilty even before i had appeared in court, i thought the law in South Africa is that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. 3. The very same case/charges were withdrawn

Furthermore i found it so confusing as a client to them that i also had to help them into doing of the investigation, where i had to trace witnesses for them and note the accident did not even happen to the area that is close me, i do not know anyone there. Again I as a client had to collected an accident report from the provincial traffic department on their behalf, NOTE!!! i was never refunded or compensated for all my efforts. But i guess, that's it....you deserve what you pay for!!!

There is no need for that as your complaints department said to me we are at deadlock so i have the right to refer the matter to the ombudsman should i wish.

So tell me which other best possible solutions would come out of this situation.

Whilst you still busy looking on the issue please also attend to this one, when the very same vehicle got involved in the accident when your Towing truck came to collect it, the ignition could still be on and all other light function well. Even when the tracking company still tracked it they could still see my battery was connected until the day your appointed assessor disconnected my battery and reconnected it the same day as per your statement but now nothing works. i still have the photo that i took from the accident scene that day to support my claim, even the video and to even support what am saying can even interview the tow truck driver who came to collect it. The ignition was still on and all light functioning. but came your damage list by the assessor...both light not working need to be replaced how? I will be putting the photos online tomorrow for the public to see the condition in which my vehicle was towed and the ones i got my vehicle in. I even got another evidence from the tracking company to indicate the time and date when my battery was disconnected from my vehicle by your assessor.

Dear Nathi M

We regret to hear of your distress regarding the outcome of your claim and appreciate you bringing same to our attention.

Rest assured that at PMD we pride ourselves on making fair and objective decisions on all claims. However, we are still obliged to apply our policy terms and conditions as well as the laws of the road when validating claims.

The matter was referred to our Market Conduct Department who has already provided you with a detailed explanation regarding the outcome of your claim.

We are of course, delighted to confirm once more that unlike with many other insurers, and notwithstanding economic conditions like interest rate hikes, inflation or a falling Rand, PMD guarantees never to increase premiums on claim free policies.

Assuring you of our continued best endeavours on your behalf.
