my car should be written off
I was involved in a car accident on the 28 January 2015 and I called the insurance company(Prime Meridian) that my car has been insured with. The approval was given that the car should be towed by A1 Assist to the panel beater Nu Wagon Body Shop in Industria North, Roodepoort. After a day the Assessor was assigned to evaluate the damages on the car and the assessor said the damages were about R74 000 and they said they will only pay R26 000. Now according to the Panel Beater to cost of repairing the car is more than R122 000. This means that I have to pay more than R96 000 on my own. I think the assessor deliberately under priced the quotation to save insurance from paying the write off price. I think if the cost of repairing the car were that high from the onset then my car could have been a write off and that could have solved my problem long time ago. its more than a six month now without a car and this is a serious inconvenience.
We are somewhat surprised to learn that your preferred repair centre dramatically increased their initial quote supp**** to you.
As you know, your Prime Motor Thrift would have indeed paid in the event that your vehicle was written off, unfortunately, after receiving three quotations at the time of assessing your claim, the damage to the vehicle was far from being considered as written-off. This is so as a result of the fact that damage was only sustained to the right hand doors of the vehicle.
Luckily you opted to add the additional Accident Contribution Benefit to your policy which accumulated with R2000.00 each and every month since inception at a very low additional premium of R99.50. Had you been on cover for a longer period, chances are that you would have accumulated the full amount of the damages sustained to your vehicle.
