INSURANCE CLAIM

On the 3rd of August 2018. My mum was involved in a car accident around 7.30 pm at Lenasia Extension 10, Volta Street. Received a call from mums colleague informing me that mum had an accident. She is covered under my stupid insurance (PMD). I am the policy holder Thapelo Kgamedi. Mum was hospitalized the very same day. After sorting out the admission at Lend Med hospital, i called the insurance to report the accident and spoke to Naledi. Informed him that the car was towed by STR towing and the car sent to your approved panel beaters (Danmar Autobody). The person who towed the car EBIE, confirmed with me that they work hand-in-hand with PMD and should not worry about storage cost and administration cost, he confirmed that he will claim it from the insurance. The car was then towed to the panel beater(DANMAR). I still have the slip. When i went to Danmar was assisted by Eki, to check the car, Quote from Danmar said R 110 000 and sent to PMD insurance. informed Danmar that my insurance is PMD. I was told not to worry because they do work with PMD insurance, nothing was mentioned to me about storage costs and should wait for insurance. I logged the claim with PMD(CL ********** 87) and spoke with various consultants. Their investigations took 3 months, held by Sheldon Govender. i always had to do follow ups with the insurance as i was not receiving any correspondence from them. The insurance knew were the car is. After their findings, of which i believe were not done, PMD confirmed that the car is not a write off, they will only pay R 10 000 to Danmar because of the accident benefit option. PMD quoted R 58 000 and i am liable of R 48 000. i asked myself why when i pay every month. I informed both PMD and Danmar Autobody that i do not have the difference. Panel beater requires full amount in order to fix the car. PMD will only pay once the car is fully fixed. Panel beater confirmed , since Insurance cannot do anything about it, storage fees has incurred /amounted to R 18 000. This was never communicated to me the policy holder and insurance said they are liable of any other cost (including storage cost). NO one told me about the costs initially.

When i spoke to a claim consultant Gugu from PMD, who had to authorize the claim for approval, confirmed that they have been communicating on the following number ********** (mums number), of which is unfair as i am the policy holder. and again communicating with some who was in hospital, high possibility on not reading text until recovery. i fail to understand as i initially mentioned it to Naledi that mum is admitted to hospital. Len Med.
