Inconsistent and Contradictory Information

I claimed for a windscreen damage from my Accident Contribution Benefit. On the day I discovered my windscreen had cracked I immediately called PMD for a claim; the consultant asked me if I have a Windscreen Insurance, I told him that I have never heard of that & it has never been sold to me. When this insurance was sold to me I was told of the Accident Contribution Benefit which accumulates every month & it covers if the car is damaged but is not written off. The consultant who sold me this policy even made an example of this Accident Contribution Benefit cover being able to cover my car in the event of minor damages & maybe I come out of the mall & I discover that my car has been scratched by trolley.

Yesterday I was telephonically told that my claim was repudiated because the windscreen damage happened while my car was parked & it did not occur as a result of an accident & no other motor vehicle was involved when my windscreen got damaged.

Today I get an email stating that my claim was invalid from the Prime Motor Thrift because “the assessed cost of repairs does not exceed eighty percent (80%) of the current Trade Value of the Insured Vehicle”. I fully understand that the PMT covers in the event of the car being ******/ hijacked, 3rd party damage or written off. Now I don’t understand why my windscreen damage would be claimed from the PMT instead of the ACB.

So many people warned so many times about PMD but I never listened. I suspected that my claim wouldn’t be approved because insurers like you will look for any excuse not to pay a claim however I am just appalled by your contradictory stories.

Hello Khanyim40,

We are sorry to learn of your unfortunate incident which happened in September, and thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to your enquiry.

Unfortunately, your claim could not be entertained because the Prime MotorTHRIFT product you selected covers total loss through write-off, theft, hijacking and natural disasters. In this case, windscreen cracks like yours are not covered. This ‘specific risk’ policy is why the premiums are so very affordable.

We are deeply sympathetic towards your challenging personal circumstances; however, we cannot validate claims which do not qualify for cover.

A member of our Client Representation Department will contact you soon to carefully re-explain the benefits of your policy.

Kind Regards,

The PMD Team

Good day, Please note that I find your response to be quite patronizing, so you can spare me your **** sympathies. Please take note of the below points that I’ve raised and respond to them: 1. It makes absolutely no sense why a windscreen damage would be claimed from a Prime Motor Thrift. There is no way a windscreen damage would ever make 80% or more of the car value. Claiming from the PMT would have obviously rendered my claim invalid from the onset; I don’t understand why your consultants would even waste my time, advising me to send pictures. This claim should have been done from an Accident Contribution Benefit which I understand is meant for minor damages which would not quality as a total write off. This is also going to unfairly and reasonably affect my claim history. 2. The reason for the claim repudiation that I was given telephonically and via email does not match. This is a huge concern and I do not understand why won’t you at least investigate and acknowledge that. Kindly retrieve and listen to the call recording and take responsibility for your inconstant information. I was told that the windscreen damage happened while my car was parked & it did not occur as a result of an accident & no other motor vehicle was involved when my windscreen got damaged and the email stated something completely different. I will not take this lying down; as this is in total contravention of the TCF values. I expect proper feedback or I will be escalating this further.
