Frustrated with Prime Meridian Didect

If there was a negative start rating that’s what I would have chosen. On the 12th of February 2021 I had an accident driving my mother’s car and she is insured with Prime Meridian Direct (comprehensive cover). The claim process was very tedious as we were both being asked the same questions over and over again and after 2 weeks on the 23rd February 2021 she received a letter saying that the claim was approved and from the photos sent the estimate to fix the damage was R8 000 which sounded like a big joke, can you imagine an accident damaged Mercedes Benz being repaired for R8 000! The car was finally towed from my parents’ residence to the repairer as the one side is sagging so the car could not be driven there. At the repairer their assessor did an assessment on the car, called me for further information and discovered that there was mechanical damage (suspension etc). PMD is now saying that they will only pay for the cosmetic damage caused by the accident ie. damage to the bonnet and to the windscreen and will not pay for the mechanical damage as they do not believe that it was caused by the accident. This is a car that was bought brand new in December 2017 and recently went for it’s A service in December 2020 at Mercedes Benz Shelley Beach and if there was mechanical damage surely that should have been picked up. Also the car is a Mercedes for crying out loud and shows a warning when there is a problem. Also how would I have drive the car and been in an accident if the car was not drivable? Now the repaired says they will do the cosmetic repairs and after they are done the car will not be drivable. I’m so confused and frustrated, what is the point of paying for comprehensive car insurance if after being involved in an accident they will pick an choose which damages they will pay for? My parents have a second car insured with PMD and it’s clear that we are just donating both premiums to PMD every month because when an accident occurs they do not come through. We have provided the insurance with all the information, there were even witnesses at the scene of the accident including the pedestrian that I hit. The accident also happened near a shopping complex and I’m sure there is surveillance that could prove what happened during the accident.

Another issue is that of the curtesy car that is only for 15 days, during the sal the consultant never explained to us how long the curtesy car was for. You can even check the voice recordings, what is the point of having a curtesy car benefit if it has to be returned before repairs to the car have been completed? My mother has a knee injury and cannot be walking to catch a taxi, pleas fix the issue with the curtesy car.
