Disgusting, unprofessional and ******** service from PMD and associated companies.
I am a 26 year old male, starting my career in Johannesburg. I had an accident last year December. I was traveling and I took the gillooly's off ramp going to petroia. My car hit an oil spill(it did rain prior to the accident), spun hitting the barrier on the bridge and spun back into the road coming to a stop.
At the scene of the accident, there was a tow truck which my insurance approve. PMD authorized that the tow truck driver takes my car to the Re-new it in Sandton without my approval and/or choice of workshop closet to my residential address for my convenience.
My claim was then later delinced, when ask for the report of why the claim was declined. Report stated that I gave false statements. When I provided information. PMD changes their statement, relying on 3rd party information. The consultants can't answer simple questions relevant to the decline of claim. This company as made an assumption when I told them I was coming from work and they made an assumption with the address rather than asking me directly. And this took them month to reply back, leaving me in an inconvenient situation.
I have 2 email where the tow truck driver changes his statement. His initial statement states that "I missed the turn at the top of bridge". When I told them that it's impossible for me to take a turn on a 20 storey bridge. PMD then changes their statement to "i did not take the bend sharp enough" and decline my claim again. How is this not lawful, allowing the 3rd party to change their statement but will not allow me to justify myself.
PMD also stated that due to my claim been declined, that I have to now pay for the storage of my car at the Re-new it center and that I was given 5 day to pay and collect my car or I will be charged for storage thereafter. I was charged R2600 for the storage which I paid. On the day of collection, the car was stripped without approval, when questioned PMD about this they change their story saying it was pre-authorized. Parts was ******, changed and broken. I spoke to one of PMD's other sale consultants and asked about the stripping of the car, he says that claims needs to be approved before the car is stripped or assessed. I then spoke with the assistant manager and she changes the story stating that they don't charge for storage and it was for towing of the car. PMD is not willing to send out an assessor to come assess the damages after the accident and then tells me to check what is missing /assess my car myself (telling them I'm not a mechanic).
PMD has no consistency with their decline. And I provided information, they find alternative routes and change their statements. To date I'm still waiting for a call back as requested.
Any legal help will greatly be appreciated.

You no doubt remember that unlike many other insurers, with PMD comprehensive cover your basic excess reduces to zero - and it does so within a surprisingly short period of time.
