Prime meridian insurance company is reaping people off. I had an accident in 25 March 20 20 before the lockdown and was able to get hold of then in level for of Covid19 in May 2020. I lodge my claim for the vehicle and when they responded they wanted photos of the car involved and I provided them with possible photos and explained to them that it impossible to take a photo of the fender/radiator they will have to send in their assessor to inspect the vehicle and take full report before payout I'm willing to wait the response that I will pay access of R4420 and they will pay me R4750. I then asked them which dealer will fix the vehicle at that amount and insisted they come inspect the vehicle 1st. And they request that I make aqoutation and they will pay once I have mad quote. Again I queried that expenses will be to much since 3 quote will be needed as my vehicle can not move. I will need two truck to do 3 quote. I waited and today I received response that they will not pay unless I provide photos that prove that the vehicle radiator is damaged. I'm puzzled cause it will need me to strip the car for it to be taken a photo and I'm no engineer. Kindly help me. I'm willing to fix my car but i find it unfair cause i joined the insurance for incase of emergency. Where am i expected to get such money to repair the vehicle and on the other side paying insurance for what.

Dear Zanele M,

Thank you for raising your discontent. Our aim is to provide world class services to our policyholders during every interaction and your post is of real importance to us.

At PMD we pride ourselves in promptly paying all valid claims.  Rest assured that we perform our validations not for the sake of creating unnecessary delays or to avoid claims but for the protection of all of our clients.  As we are sure you will appreciate, the more time it takes us to validate your claim, the more it costs us both.

A review of your claim revealed that it was approved in line with your policy terms and conditions. You are more than welcome to obtain quotations for the repair of the vehicle or provide us with the necessary photographs which our Assessing Department have confirmed are easy to take and do not require the stripping of the vehicle, should you remain unsatisfied with the assessed cost of repairs.

We are pleased to learn that our Market Conduct Team has already been in contact with you and will continue to assist until your concern is resolved.

We are of course, pleased to re-confirm that unlike with many other insurers, with PMD the excess payable when you claim under comprehensive cover reduces to absolute zero - and in a short few months.

Kind regards,
The PMD Team.
