claim

Prime South Africa insurance gave me a bad taste in my mouth. I will never do business with Prime SA again. At the time of my claim, I am deeply disappointed. Firstly, they expect me to pay an enormous co-payment / excess (R 10 095.00), but I have also included my companion as a driver on the insurance, secondly, they expect me to pay R4000.00 before I can get a rental vehicle. With this, they use other terms to defend it. Namely, that car hire is not the same as caurtasy car. It obliges me to pay the amount upfront, but refused. This is the reason why I canceled my claim and insurance with them. Now I am obliged to repair my vehicle's own damage. With insurance buy-in, they don't tell you what's hidden in the insurance. Prime South Africa now way

Hello Johannes M,

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that your expectations weren’t met and regret that you’ve chosen to cancel your policy.

At Prime, we go to great lengths to ensure our clients fully understand their cover, including excesses and benefits. While our records confirm that the product was explained and the regular driver not added at purchase, we’ve removed the additional excess as a gesture of goodwill. Your excess now reflects only the Early Claims and Main Driver Excess.

Regarding the optional car hire benefit, it’s designed to be flexible—either assisting with arranging a rental or providing a transport allowance, depending on your needs at the time.

Our Market Conduct Team will reach out with detailed feedback and support.

We’d also like to reaffirm that with Prime SA, your excess under comprehensive cover reduces to zero in a remarkably short time—something few insurers offer.

Committed to resolving your concern with care.

Kind regards,
The Prime SA Team

Reviewer Update
With this, I can once again express my experience with the service of Prime South Africa. I would never, ever introduce anyone to Prime SA. After my ordeal with them, they (Prime SA) promised to compensate me for the repair work I had to have done myself. I sent them all Photos/Invoice/Photos of repairs via WhatsApp. After a week, they gave me feedback, that they would no longer compensate for repairs, by saying the following: That the repair amount was less than the excess amount. After my writing on this platform, Prime SA assured me that the claim had been approved and that my excess fee would be zero value, now they're spinning their whole story. Not even compensate me with my transport expenses which I was forced to made plans for.
I'm so-so disappointed in Prime SA.

I considered rejoining Prime SA, when the claim would been settled, because they offer affordable insurance. But once again, they proved that they were in no way interested in forefilling my needs. Good luck to the other customers they still have.

Thank you Hellopeter for this platform.
