CL***. *********** PMD staff

In a world of technology and online computerised system where information is at ones fingertips, I would think that the PMD’s Call Centre agent would have known better. My car broke down at around 19:00 the 7th of May 2018. I called my insurance Prime Meridian Direct (PMD) to have them tow my car 2 kilometers to my workplace in Milpark whereby I would get my mechanic to tow my car to Success Fitment Centre where I normally get the repairs to my car done. But the Call Centre Agent insisted that the towing company tow my car to SMD, because I am covered for mechanical repairs (recording would prove this). After much screaming and frustration, and it being over 2 hours later, I agreed that he (Call Centre agent) can instruct the towing company to take my car to the SMD, against my better judgment. The following day I was asked to open a case although I kept informing everyone that I didn’t have an accident as per say and that my car broke down whereby the wheel came off. But alas, I had to spend hours and go through all the trouble of obtaining an affidavit, then filling in endless forms and documents, ID, cars photos, motivation letter, etc. and finally mailing them off to PMD to access. But 2 weeks later my claim was rejected stating that ‘I DON’T HAVE MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN’ on my policy? On the 22nd May 2018 I received a Claim Invalid letter and a sms (PMD Claim update CL ********** 48: Please collect your vehicle as soon as possible from SMD at SMD Sandton, 4 Impala road, Malboro,, Sandton, Please pay R2295.00 into the following account: Bank: FNB Account number: ********** 7408, Branch Code: 252142, Reference: PRA ********** A and email proof of payment to ********** prior to collecting your vehicle. Please note that cash transactions will not be accepted. Tel ********** ). Later I received another sms stating that they will pay the money. But upon arrival at SMD, the personnel could not release my car because PMD did not give me a release letter. On the 23rd may 2018, I mailed PMD requesting a Release letter, and STILL, NO REPLY. Three weeks later and battling around without a car, my question is, “WHEN ARE YOU GIVING MY CAR BACK???” *********** AND UNPROFESSIONAL PMD staff,,,

Two working days to receive a preliminary feedback from PMD has come, and it has gone, and still I await feedback. Other than the phone call from Anton Verster late yesterday afternoon assuring me that I can fetch my car from SMD Sandton WITHOUT a Release letter, only his word because he spoke to the staff at SMD. AGAIN, TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL,,, I went a week ago on PMD’s word and left empty handed, and now upon your word I have to do the same. I therefore requested the contact person’s name and number at SMD so that I can verify this firsthand, and Anton said that he will give it to me this morning? NOW, back to the REPLY from PMD, that a THOROUGH INVESTIGATION WILL BE CONDUCTED they said, and still I await any written documented investigation feedback, not a mere phone call. Next course of action I would need to take, I guess the Ombudsman?

If PMD were a reputable and professional company that invests in the interest of its clients, then PMD would have opted to pay at least have the cost of my repairs in good faith for all the discomfort, inconvenience and frustration they put me through, when all I wanted from the beginning the night my car broke down, was for them to tow my car 2 km and I would have had it repaired myself. But they insisted to tow and investigate since I “do have mechanical breakdown” on my policy according to them!!! I doubt if any investigations were done, these last few days, and all they doing is WASTING MY TIME. 23 days later, and I still don’t have my car.

Dear NathanBD,

Client service is extremely important to us and we would like to express our deepest regret for any inconvenience caused by this unusual occurrence.

As a service to our clients, we have an arrangement with our service providers to assist with the safe storage of our clients’ vehicles. This service is provided throughout South Africa at rates far lower than those of private towing yards and many of our clients prefer this assistance.

Our claims team have confirmed that you have no outstanding fee for the collection of your vehicle and your vehicle was ready to be released on 22 May 2018. An SMS was sent you in confirmation and we do wish to ensure that you are in possession of your vehicle soonest.

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention. As a result the necessary precautions have been implemented to prevent similar instances from recurring.

Assuring you of our continued best endeavours on your behalf.

Kind Regards,

The PMD Team

Once again, you have not understood my request. In that I received a sms as you have mentioned on the 22nd May 2018, whereby I proceeded to collect my car at SMD, BUT, and as I explained, they could NOT release my car because I did not receive a RELEASE LETTER from PMD. And then I requested a contact person and contact number at SMD but still, you have not given me this simple request??? What don’t you understand???
