cheap premiums are expensive at claims stage

Cheap premiums are expensive at claims stage. I had an accident on the 25th of October already. First i call the towing emergency line and the lady there vasically tells me i must do what i think is right. from there a series of calls for us to explain what happened. Then me the account holder does not get updates instead updates are given to the person who was driving the car when the incident happened and i did not give such consent. In the interviews the driver is asked repeatedly what happened and where the car is damaged. Ive worked in claims so we swtiched the car on, checked what is out of the ordinary, sent pictures and then another so week later we are told the claim is approved but also this is after i call to find out how far the claim is. I speak to Nonhlanhla and i specifically remember this girl because she could care less that im an unhappy customer. Finally alas after 50 million calls between prime and the panelbeater who also was car will be ready on this day and then on another day basically rediness of the car had a 2 week delay. We get to the car and from the side that we see it looks beautiful but Oh no as we are about to take it, we switch it on ALAS, the ABS light is still on, on the left hand side theres still a dent and although we said this to Prime the petrol gage is wrong because we poured petrol on the day and we remember exactly where it landed because we were joking about it. The explaination from the panelbeaters is that prime never told them to check that but they will get the guy with the computer to come and switch the ABS light off. OH my soul. Just switch it off and they will fasten something in the petrol gage thing. Then the papers you need to sign tell you that you must be satisfied with the repairs. Haibo guys im no machenic. I need to be able to trust that my insurer uses proper assessors and the whole point of vehicle insurance is so they out you in the same position you were in before the incident. This is by far the worst experience i have seen from an insurer. A million calls for policy but non for service. As i wait to see what happens to the switched off ABS light ##horrible service##

Hello Thulisile,

Thank you for your post. We’re truly sorry for the frustration, delays, and poor experience you’ve described during the repair process.

At Prime, we aim to handle claims fairly, communicate clearly, and ensure that our panel of repairers delivers safe, good-quality repairs. Your experience shows that we have fallen short of these standards in how your claim and repairs were managed, and we take this very seriously.

As part of our claims process, it is standard practice to gather all relevant information to ensure a fair and accurate assessment. This includes obtaining details from the driver at the time of the accident, as they are best positioned to provide critical information about the incident. We have reviewed your concerns regarding the dent, ABS light, and petrol gauge, and these issues have been rectified.

Our Market Conduct Team will provide detailed feedback and the way forward shortly.

Rest assured, our nationwide network of SAMBRA-approved repairers is committed to delivering high-quality repairs, and we are addressing the service issues identified in your file to prevent a repeat of this experience.

Committed to resolving your concern with care.

Kind regards,
The Prime SA Team

Dont lie. This car is still not sorted. To date no one from Prime has called me. We were stuck today and the panelbeaters is telling us they dont know how to fix this problem and we must call prime. what is the point of paying insurance and with so much confidence you give the impression that this car is ok when its not. What kind of business are you running at prime. This is why the insurance industry has a bad name, Its because of such companies. Im not going away util this car is sorted.
