Bad faith practices by from PMD- JAN

Totally not happy with how PMD treats its customers in their time of need. Worst Insurance company EVER. So I was involved in two accidents,1 back in 2020 March and the other towards the last week of November 2020. In the first incident the vehicle sustained significate damage and in terms of their own policy, the vehicle was supposed to be written off. The vehicle was rather opted to be repaired by PMD. PMD appointed the most inefficient company called DENTTECK to carry out the repair work which took in total over 12 months and the vehicle is still not fixed to date. This company took about 6 months to complete the repairs on the vehicle initially. When the vehicle came out 6 months down the line, I noted that the vehicle was not repaired correctly as the vehicle still had the ESP light on, meaning that the vehicle was not stable on the road, the vehicle would vibrate when you driving and sub-standard work as my paint work was not matched correctly, being stuck beside the road, one of the tyres were bulged impact of the accident, which I had to replaced at own cost as they refused to reimburse me. The vehicle had to go back to Dentteck for about 7 times for them to attempt to fix it, which took about another 6 months, meaning I was without my vehicle for over 12 months. During this time, I was expected to pay for their insurance premium and the vehicle installments, which in terms of their policy documents was supposed to be written-off, (evidence to this end was submitted to PMD so they could right their wrong since it was clear that they could not fix the vehicle, of which they denied even though evidence was there in black and white). for these 12 months I used public transport, putting the lives of my loved ones in danger due to increased risk of exposure to COVID. Additionally the petrol costs of driving back and forth were for my own cost, which could run into 4k easily. I called them to assist with this cost and they just refused.

After a lot of calls and emails to PMD, I once again called manager called Jan from the assessing department to again tell him of my struggles of which he informed me that if I am still not satisfied with the repairs, after the vehicle came back from Dentect (this is now the 7 or 8th time) that I should let him know and he will appoint his trusted repairer to fully assess the vehicle. This gave me hope and I honestly thought he genuinely wanted to assist me since this case was 12 months old and the vehicle was still not fix. Once again I went to this trusted repairer in Sasolburg at own cost once more to get the vehicle diagnosed.

Yesterday, I got the most shocking call of my life, were now Jan wanted to blame me for the issues that were still outstanding of the vehicle, despite me trying to tell him that all those issues were outstanding issues and were timeously communicated to the PMD. I have all evidence to this end. He was just so cold like I was speaking to a different person. Now because I don't want to further damage the vehicle, I took the decision of parking it and go back to public transport. Dentteck at some staff even agreed that all the issues I had will be addressed however they failed and now Jan what to blame me so PMD can release itself from this liability, if that so, why are we paying insurance then?????

When the vehicle was assessed the second time during the second accident, issues pertaining to the first incident were still noted and were still not addressed, this adding to the substandard work that was done by the first repairer. This is so unfair PMD

I honestly hope that some one can help me.

Dear Kamohelo M,

Thank you for your post.

We are troubled to hear of your experience as we continuously strive to provide excellent customer service to all clients.

It is important to us to ensure that all accident related damage is repaired to the appropriate level of quality. In the event that clients are dissatisfied with the quality of repairs, we do not hesitate to conduct rectifications. We are not in the position to repair damage to the vehicle that is outside of the scope of the incident claimed for.

Our Market Conduct Team will provide you with written correspondence on the matter.

We are of course, delighted to confirm once more that despite economic conditions like interest rate hikes, inflation or a falling Rand, PMD provides affordable premiums.

Assuring you of our continued best endeavours.

Kind regards,
The PMD Team
