Accident claim for more than 2 months ! Pathetic

Prime Meridian Direct has to be the worst insurance provider ever.
My mother has a policy with Prime Meridian Direct and had an accident on the morning of the 15/05/2015.
The damage to the vehicle was so bad that both Driver and passenger airbags were deployed. This means that the vehicle should be written off.
After submitting all the required documents and an assesment being done on the vehicle, Prime Meridian Direct claims that the car can be repaired by using generic parts which are not Toyota approved.
Why the hell would a Toyota be repaired with **** parts ? They claim that the repairs will cost R 59 000,
R 36000 would be paid by them and my mother needs to pay the balance of R 23 000.

The main reason for looking for cheap **** parts is to avoid writting off the vehicle as that would mean they need to pay the balance owed to the bank. What kind of insurance does that ?
We got different quotes from other panel beaters and they all agree that the vehicle should be written off as the damage is major.
My advise to anyone who wants to join Prime Meridian Direct, DO NOT JOIN THEM OR ELSE YOU WILL REGRET IT.
Rather NOT have insurance at all !!

Hello abjuso,

We sincerely regret to learn of your disappointment mentioned above.

We pride ourselves in insuring that our assessor's apply a professional, consistent and accurate standard when assessing all claims as such we will not allow substandard vehicle parts to be fitted to your mother's vehicle.

Nevertheless it is industry standard to use alternative parts where a vehicle is older than two years, such as in this case. Alternative parts, does not mean that your vehicle will be any less safe compared to when Toyota manufactured parts are used.

Our claims department is working with you to alleviate any further concerns that you might have.

Assuring you of our continued best endeavours.

Kind regards,
The PMD Team

This is still not resolved. More than a year and a half after the accident happened.

Is this what you pride yourselved in?

Its is NOT acceptable for any claim to take this long.

I will personaly report this to the Ombudsman.

And will share this report with all my facebook friends and twitter followers.
