Deposit not yet returned

I have moved out, of a property at Somerset Park (Umhlanga) that I rented from August 2015, on 30 June 2017. Up until now I have not received my deposit money when I inquire I was told that the deposit was paid to the Landlord who now claims that there were damages on the property that I am liable for. According to me there was nothing that we damaged that we damaged, I then requested a inspection report. There was no inspection report at the time we moved in as the property was never cleaned even though I have paid R37020 deposit. I also did not have a contract signed when I moved in all due to incompetency. I have taken the liberty to demand my deposit money from them which they told me it is with the Landlord, according to me that is absurd because that was supposed to be held by them in a trust account. Can I get assistance please
