2 months later, no deposit refunded yet.
Good Morning
In November 2018 we rented a property from Prime Property in Umhlanga, We struggled with a financial issue but were able to pay our entire deposit of R31k within the first week.
In January 2019, an opportunity arose for us to move away from Durban to start a new career. Notice was given to the agency on the 31st January and subsequently moved out 15th February. November (pro-rate), December and January were paid as part of the R31k payment. The full rent of February (R7500) was deducted from the initial deposit of R15k (we paid two months deposit). Replacement tenants were found and soon moved in.
We have been trying to get the residual deposit returned to us since the end of February, it is now 16th April. Countless messages, via whatsapp and email were sent to the agency. We were recently informed that they did email us with the damages report and requesting our banking details, an email which we did not receive. Yesterday after contacting them again, we received an email on the correct email address; in the same email thread we found that the email sent on March 12th was sent to the wrong email. We rep**** to the email with our banking details and were told the payment would be made.
A) We have still to receive the payment (which the agency has stated will be R2000.00) B) They are also charging us R671.00 per month for the remainder of the lease which equates to R6710.00 despite the fact that replacement tenants were found on the same month which we vacated and that we replaced all the bulbs in the apartment, cleaned the apartment (which hadn't been cleaned after the previous tenant) and had the veranda water outlet unblocked at our own cost.
