The security staff at Groote Schuur hospital are prohibiting me from visiting my mother who is a patient at the hospital. The first incident took place on 13 February 2026, where the security personnel at the emergency entrance used to access the hospital were questioning me about who I’m, visiting and why I arrived before visiting hour. I explained that my mother had been transferred from another hospital to Groote Schuur this, I was there to see her and get the feedback regarding her condition from the ward staff. The security insisted I show her my phone, to prove that I was indeed called for my mom’s transfer. Then she said she didn’t recognise the number, I reiterated that my mom was transferred and the call was not from their hospital. She demanded my mother’s surname to verify that she is indeed a patient and would not allow me entry until I took the phone from her and told the person on the call what I was there for. Once I had gained entry into the hospital, the ward security Mbetshu would not open the door. Once he opened I told him that he is infringing on my rights to visit my mother and he said his phone says it’s 14:29 yet the ward clock showed the time as 14:33. I told him that his cellphone is his private property and nothing to do with the hospital. During the visit 3 other security staff were sent to question me further. A security supervisory the name of Sixilile Celaya was there to enforce the false statement of his team instead of rectifying the matter. I took a photo of him which made him very angry. On Tuesday 17 February I called the Pretoria head office and reported the incident to a security manager by the name of Sonwabile Tshuta who have not done nothing about the matter. On 19 February 2026, the matter was further heightened by 7 security officers who came to intimidate me in the ward. They caused unnecessary attention and drama and disturbed my mother’s peace. I ensured that I took video footage to verify this matter. Sixolile swore at me and pushed my phone when I recorded him, which I told him it’s assault. Even the female staff at the entrance upon exiting grabbed my harm and was pulling me as means to force me to delete the footage on my phone. I would like to open a formal case of ************ and assault against the security officers. I have footage and damage to my property to prove the statement.
