I brought an antique mirror on a frame in to be bevelled. They advised to rather use a new mirror. I agreed even though the price seemed exorbitant. On collection I asked for the original antique mirror. They scratched around and after about 15min noted with blank expression that it cannot be found. Then a somber Indian lady told me that they throw away all their samples and cuttings and it's their policy to do so and if I wanted my mirror I had to specify it. I argued that surely I should be asked that as no one would just assume ones property would just be discarded. Needless to say there was no resolve or compensation and I stormed out.
