Beware of buying online with these guys..

This company is a (friendly) front for municipalities selling electricity. Make no mistake whose side they are on if things go wrong. Case in point: electricity is going up end of June this year, so they expect lots of customers to stock up beforehand. Beware! If you owe your municipality money (for anything) and you buy a lot of electricity, Prepaid24 first takes all money owed to the municipality, then what's left can be used for electricity! Even if (as in my case) there was no money owed, the lethargic slow municipal accounting just hadn't picked it up yet.. Happened end of April when VAT was pushing up prices, thought I'd be clever and buy lots of electricity. So Prepaid refused to reverse the payment, the municipality refused to refund the excess paid, also refused to give me electricity at the old price..

Hello Jon,

We tried to call you on your cell listed, but unfortunately could not get hold of you.

Please take note that as we are a 3rd party payment platform we do not have access to the municipal database, we could not see beforehand that there was any arrears. However, the municipality does have a debt recovery system in place, and unfortunately this is the cause of your payment being allocated to the arrears taken off your payment, and from Prepaid24's side, we cannot override this function of the municipality.

When we received your payment, we submitted it directly to the municipality, and reverted back to you with what we received from the municipality. We do not have any hidden charges nor do we take your money for arrears as tokens are not generated by Prepaid24 in any way.

Yes, we do send out communication to all our clients reminding them of the yearly increase, and give a suggestion to think about purchasing extra electricity, but the vending of the said electricity is dependant on the municipal terms and conditions

Have a wonderful weekend.

I don't dispute anything you write, my plea is that Prepaid24 SHOULD WARN customers of what could happen. That's all. I've done that now, but just for readers of Hellopeter. :) The sloppy/slow accounting of the municipality just made it all worse as I was NOT in arrears.
