PPS lack of communication and false payment promises
It is with great disappointment that I write this e-mail to you today. I have made several phone calls to the PPS call center regarding my Permanent Incapacity and monthly disability claim. The PI status was approved on 28 February 2018 at the board meeting. On 2 March I phoned the call center to inquire about the outcome / decision of the board. I was informed that PI was granted, but the assistant could not give me the percentage granted. He assured me that explanatory documentation would follow the same day. Up to 6 March 2018, I had no indication by any correspondence of the percentage granted. I phoned the call center and I was connected to a claims assistant who was very friendly and helpful and informed me that 100% PI was granted as well as my monthly benefit. She assured me that payment would be made on the afternoon of 6 March 2018. On 7 March 2018 I received a DISA payment release form which I signed, and was returned to PPS by e-mail. On 8 March 2018, no payment or statements were received, I once again phoned the call center and sent e-mails to PPS Member communications, PI Claims as well as Claims - no feedback received. The assistant at the PPS call center assured me that payment would be made on the afternoon of 8 March 2018. On 12 March 2018, still no payment received, I phoned the call center to try and establish the problem why payment is still outstanding - the assistant who took my call apologized and assured me that all relevant documentation and statements would be sent to me by e-mail before close of business yesterday, 12 March 2018. Payment would also have been made. 13 March 2018, today, still no documentation except for DISA certificate to be signed, which was already signed on 07 March 2018 and forwarded to you by reply e-mail on the same day. I spoke to another assistant at PPS call center, who was very helpful and tried to connect me with someone at claims. Her attempts were unsuccessful, but she returned my call within 10 minutes and informed me that the monthly claim for FEBRUARY 2018 which is still outstanding will be settled today, but the PI DISA payment will only be made on 20 March 2018. She could not give me a reason why. I do have financial obligations, such as a bond to pay, vehicle finance, living costs - water and electricity, etc and my credit rating is now suffering for falling behind because of outstanding payment. I have chosen PPS at the beginning of my career to make provision for any unforeseen illness and incapacity. I do trust the vision and mission of PPS and rely on it, but I do have to bring to your attention that the way that my claim and feedback thereon is being handled,is a great disappointment. Surely you will understand that no one chooses to be in ill health and that the insurance one trusts in times like these, are suppose to support and not frustrate their clients.
