PPS for Professionals are not concerned about their members, only profits!

I have been a client of PPS for 24 yrs and have only claimed once during this period (an amount of R7500 was paid out). I am never sick or take off from work for medical related issues. During this Lockdown period I again feel totally left down by PPS. They will not even consider a partial pay-out during this time of earning no income. We were instructed by our professional body of audiologists to close all private practices during this period. So what is the use of PPS, if not for times like these. Do we need to go to work, contract the virus, spread it to patients and have all of us end up in hospital before you consider protecting our (and our patients) health and income? Incredibly short-sighted. Then you have the audacity to send me an SMS, bragging with your R4,2 billion profit and my measly "share" that I will get from this amount. In a time where other companies, as well as private investors are doing everything to alleviate the burden of South-Africans, you as PPS are still concerned with your huge profits. Why, for one year could you not give up these profits and share, even if only proportionally this amount all of us who are earning nothing at the moment. That would be the right thing to do! Your CEO then boasts in the media about what PPS are doing for members during this period.... "We know that our members worry during this time how they will afford their PPS premiums. We as PPS will therefor allow a premium holiday of up to 5 months on premiums, which can be paid back to us over a period." No Izak Smit, we are not ONLY concerned about premiums paid to your stingy company. We are mostly concerned with paying our staff, paying our rent, paying our bonds, kids' school and university fees, electricity, other insurance policies, car payments....... Honestly all we are asking is "Put your money where your mouth is"!
