My recommendation: Stay away from PPS

I feel I was ******* into joining PPS RA when I didn't really know much about investing, etc., about 45 years ago. At some point I decided that the returns (even illustrative ones, that are very optimistic) were not going to deliver, so I decided to terminate as soon as possible and thought that if I waited until retirement age, i.e. 55, there wouldn't be any penalties. Well, what do you know, there are huge penalties unless you wait until you are 75 (IIRC). I was never made aware of the late retirement age and the penalties turned out to be about 10% which decimates the returns. In any case, after many delays from PPS side, I managed to terminate the RA in March 2021 and good riddance. However, the debit for the life/disability/etc, insurance continues every month, despite multiple e-mails over many months asking them to stop ALL debit orders. It looks like they are using all types of delay tactics, e.g. passing the buck between Sanlam and PPS or stating that the request was sent from the wrong e-mail address, long response times, etc. etc.. (I get correspondence on that e-mail and on the website my details are also correct). My bank says it can't stop the debit, so it looks like I'll have to change my bank account to stop this.
