Bad Service - Builders Warehouse and Powercare
I wish to lodge a formal complaint regarding the unacceptable after-sales service I have received in relation to my Goldair 4-plate gas stove, purchased from Builders Cape Gate on 6 December 2025. The stove was installed by a qualified installer on 27 April 2026, at which time a Certificate of Compliance (COC) was issued. During the installation, the installer identified that the back right-hand burner was defective. The burner ignites while the control knob is depressed; however, as soon as the knob is released, the flame extinguishes. At the end of May 2026, a second fault developed. The large front left-hand burner began exhibiting the same defect—it ignites while the knob is held in but extinguishes immediately once the knob is released. In addition, the remaining two burners produce very weak flames, making the stove extremely difficult to use. During the first week of June 2026, we visited Builders Cape Gate to report these faults. The staff member who assisted us advised that he had resigned and would be leaving the company at the end of his shift. He took down our details and informed us that the duty manager would log a service request with a technician to attend to the repairs. After receiving no communication from a technician, my husband returned to the store on 19 June 2026. The duty manager then assisted him in logging a service request with Powercare, and we were advised that Megan would be our contact person. On Wednesday, 1 July 2026, at 11:07, I received a WhatsApp message from Robert to arrange a convenient date and time for the repair. I confirmed my availability for Saturday, 4 July 2026, at 10:00, and Robert confirmed the appointment. On the morning of Saturday, 4 July 2026, the technician failed to arrive. At 09:35, I sent a WhatsApp message enquiring whether he was still attending the appointment, but I received no response. At 09:59, I attempted to contact him via WhatsApp. My call was not answered; instead, I received a message stating, "I'll call you right back." To date, I have received no further communication, no explanation for the missed appointment, and no attempt has been made to reschedule. On 7 July 2026, I received a call from the Powercare Worcester branch advising that a technician would contact me before attending the repair. Unfortunately, I have still not received any communication from a technician. Furthermore, when I attempted to contact the Worcester office on ***, my calls appeared to be answered and then immediately disconnected without any greeting or assistance. I am extremely disappointed by the level of service I have received. I purchased this stove in good faith and have been unable to use it properly since the day it was installed. I enjoy cooking, and it is incredibly frustrating to have a brand-new appliance that has been defective from the outset. Despite numerous attempts to have the faults resolved, I have experienced poor communication, missed appointments, and a complete lack of accountability. This matter has now been ongoing for over two months since installation, during which time I have been deprived of the full use of an appliance that I paid for in good faith. The inconvenience and frustration caused by this prolonged delay are unacceptable. I request that this matter be treated as a matter of urgency. Please provide me with a confirmed repair date without further delay or advise what alternative resolution will be offered. I would appreciate a written response to this complaint within the next few business days. In terms of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, consumers are entitled to receive goods that are of good quality, in good working order, and free from defects. Where goods fail to meet these standards, the supplier is required to remedy the defect within a reasonable time. Should the stove not be repaired within a reasonable period, I request that it be replaced with a new unit or that an appropriate refund be provided in accordance with the Act. I trust that this matter will receive your immediate attention, and I look forward to your prompt response and a satisfactory resolution. I have received an email on 16 July 2026 that an agent/technician will be in contact. I have also told them that to contact me and my husband via email or whatsapp as we both of us is busy with clients and might miss the call. It is not a pleasure anymore to cook as I don't have a proper stove to cook on.

Its been 6 months
For 6 months I've been calling them for a replace of my TV and they've always said that they'll send an email to the supplier and that they'll get back to me once the supplier responds to their email
