swimming pool complaint

I would like to lodge a complaint in terms of our swimming pool.

We embarked on our journey last year and got numerous quotations from different companies. We have hears horrid stories of people putting in pools where things have gone sour and where they had experienced endless problems hence the reason for us trying to make sure that we do our research on marbalite and fibo-glass pools. We received numerous quotes and did comparisons and finally decided to take Power pools and Ponds up on their offer.

We explained to them that we have clay ground when the quotation was done and they advised that all will be in order.

As soon as the quotation was signed they explained the procedure to us and started digging the whole for the swimming pool.

Firstly there was a problem with digging the whole as we had bounders in the ground and these had to be blown up in order for them to continue. (My understanding is that this would we for our cost? Kindly confirm).

We arranged with a blasting company and they came to blast the boulders. No supervision from Power pools during this process. We had agreed for the pool to have a depth of 1.7m however after as no supervision was done, it was discovered later that the hole was not deep enough and they could not give us the depth we had asked for. We were not willing to have the company come out for a second time to blast more builders and left it at that.

They continued with the pool and attempted to do the reinforcement (as we have clay ground). I did a quick inspection of the reinforcement done and was not happy with the structure (my understanding is that there should be a space between the initial hole digged and the reinforcement to allow for movement?) This was not the case, so I asked that they put brick between the reinforcement to allow for movement and to add additional wires to strengthen the structure

They continued and the concrete was done to complete the shell of the pool. We were told that the it would take a few days to dry as this was done in the winter

We realised that there was allot of water LYING in the deep end and queried with them and they said that it was normal as the water had to dry up.

Most of the water had dried up however we still noticed some water lying in the deep end. Again we were told it's not a problem and it will be ok.

After a couple of days I still saw water in the pool and went to check. There was a hole in the concrete in the deep end. We called Power pools a few times to come and have a look. After numerous attempt they eventually came out.

After inspection they said that they would need to install a drain as it seemed that we had water underground and due to it being klay ground, the water was pushing up into the swimming pool. We asked Lewiese why this was not done from the onset as we had explained that we had klay ground however he could not answer. We were not happy with the feedback and said that they would carry the additional cost as we would not be liable to any additional costs.

By this time we were just fed up and frustrated by the negligence of the company and the lack of responsiveness to our enquiries and complaints. The drain was done and they moved onto ordering the mosaics and tiles for the paving of the pool.

The marble lite was done and they had a pump running from the drain overnight to get rid of the excess water. The next day the pool was filled with water.

The continued with the paving and left. I once again called them back as I was not happy with the expansion joint that was put in as it was not worked off nicely and was not secure. They came back to fix it.

Later when we swam we felt that the marbalite was very rough and placed and was yellow in colour. We also noticed that the pool was losing allot of water (which I suspect is coming from the drain installed). I told him that the pool is using a lot of water( it dropps +- 3 mosiac blocks in 7days.which is aprox 9cm ). I also realised that the grouting of the paving was coming loose and called them once again to complain, this was I April 2016. Liewise came to have a look and said that the concrete mixed was not strong enough and that they would redo it.

This was 2 months ago and we are still waiting for them to have it rectified.

Our warranty will be expiring in September 2016 and we need these issues to be dealt with please. We have logged a complaints and called and no one is getting back to me. I have paid allot of money for this pool, which does not come cheap. And I expect that the terms and conditions of our contract is honoured and we as clients as treated fairly and with respect.

Please please help
