THEFT OF FUNDS FROM MY POSTBANK ACCOUNT BY POSTBANK

ood morning,

I hope this message finds all of you well.

My name is Susie Stockenstroom, and I am sharing this in the hope that someone may be able to assist me with an ongoing issue involving my SASSA pension grant account held with PostBank.

During September 2025, while I was in the United Kingdom caring for my sister, who is seriously unwell, an amount of R20,000 was withdrawn from my Postbank account over four consecutive days.

The withdrawals were made in amounts of R5,000 per day, which is the maximum amount allowed on any given day and additional withdrawal fees were also charged, bringing the total ****** to more than R20,222.

At the time these withdrawals occurred, I was not in South Africa; I had my bank card with meand had no access to my account. Nor should anyone else.

Prior to leaving for the UK at the end of January 2025, I had been using my new PostBank card like a debit card for purchases and day-to-day transactions.

After my departure, there was no activity on the account other than the monthly pension payments deposited by SASSA.

The pattern on my bank statement is very clear. After months of inactivity, someone suddenly withdrew R20,000 over a few days.

Once the account balance had been reduced to approximately R1,600, the withdrawals stopped.

SASSA continued making monthly grant deposits as usual.

I returned to South Africa at the end of March 2026.

When I returned and attempted to access my account, I discovered that it had been blocked and my card invalidated. With gruding assistance, I was eventually able to obtain a replacement card and regain access to the account.

However, the theft itself has still not been addressed.

Over the past two months, I have been attempting to resolve this matter with PostBank. Communication is extremely difficult and despite numerous calls, emails, and reference numbers, I have received little meaningful feedback.

At one stage, I was informed that the matter had been "resolved." When I asked when I could expect reimbur*****t of the ****** funds, I received no answer and was once again referred from one department to another.

To make matters worse, three weeks ago I suffered a serious accident and broke my arm, requiring surgery and ongoing medical treatment. The costs associated with my recovery have been substantial, and the loss of more than R20,000 from my account has had a significant impact on my financial situation.

I have retained all relevant documentation, including my account statements, which clearly show the sequence of events: normal card usage before my departure, months of inactivity while abroad, the suspicious withdrawals in September, and the continued deposit of my pension thereafter.

The theft is clearly NOT SASSA.

I would be extremely grateful if readers could assist me in obtaining answers from Postbank regarding the theft and the reimbur*****t of my funds.

Have a great day 🙏🏻
