On the 7th I visited your store as I usually do with my workers. While in the store, we were being assisted by a very kind lady who was helping us as we discussed which products we needed. While we were still having that discussion, a man who was standing by the counter, Donovan, abruptly interrupted us. In a very rude and condescending tone he said, “We only sell quality in this shop. If you want cheap, go to Spar.” This was completely unprovoked. The price was never the issue. We were simply discussing which product was best suited for what we needed. I politely responded and explained that price was not the issue. However, Donovan again rudely told us to go to Spar, speaking as if he owned the store and dismissing us in an extremely disrespectful manner. What made the situation even more disturbing was the way he looked at and addressed my workers and myself. It was very clear that he judged us based on how we speak and how we were dressed. His tone, attitude, and comments came across as extremely ****** and discriminatory. When I confronted him about his behaviour, he walked out of the shop while backchatting and continuing to make remarks as he left. I am extremely disappointed and offended by the treatment we received. My family and I run venues and guest houses and we regularly purchase pool supplies from the store. To be treated with such blatant disrespect and racial prejudice by one of your employees is completely unacceptable. This type of behaviour should not be tolerated in any professional environment. I communicated with Darren about this issue, unfortunately no communication from them has been made.
