15 Feb 2024, 11:54Good day
We quoted on the remarble of his front yard swimming pool, removing tiles from the pool interior, seal and re-plaster. With that the usual sealing around the weir, jets and lights.
Also, the replaster and sealing of his Jacuzzi.
Mr. Berrington then lodged a complaint of a leaking pool. Our foreman went out to inspect and could not find anything. I left it there. I then received a letter from a layer to attend to the leak in the client's pool. I went out to inspect to find that there was a crack on the edge of the client's infinity edge reservoir.
We only quoted on sealing and remarble of the pool itself as there is glass panels that split the pool from the reservoir and then sealing around the weir Suction point, jets and light in the pool. All were done.
The guarantee is only a workmanship guarantee on work done.
The client however insisted that we repair the reservoir, therefore giving false information to his layers and now trying to get back to us by smearing our name.
At the last inspection and meeting i informed Mr. Berrington that this was not part of my quotation as he well new and said i would come back and insert a sealer into the pool as well as repair the crack even though it's not part of what i quoted on.
I however decided against it as the way Mr. Berrington handled the issue was completely out of line. There is no point in going back because there will just be something else to follow this.
The client did the same to a number of other contractors before me and will probably do the same to the next guy after me.
Mr. Berrington claims that I'm not answering my phone but have not received a SMS, what sup or an email either. Not sure how it's possible that none of these works.
Long story short. Our guarantee's cover only the work that we quoted on.

15 Feb 2024, 12:13The issue comes in the contractors definition of "weir", there is only one weir in the pool system by the English definition of the word. What the contractor now claims is a "weir" are inlet jets that every pool has. The weir was leaking prior to the contract being entered into and was part of the contract and specifically mentioned in the quotation and guarantee. The contractor did work on the weir and supposedly sealed it. However soon it was leaking again and despite promises to attend to it he simply ignored it. I then approached an attorney with all the documentation and the attorne started the process to claim on the guarantee, which was similarly ignored as is admitted here above. To proceed further legally will cost more than having someone else fix the leak. Hence my review, don't expect a guarantee and get every word translated into several languages. As a footnote, there was one other claim on another contractor that was legally won and paid due to defective workmanship.
