Good Investment

I have had my pool cover for a year now in the northern suburbs and have seen the following:

notes: my pool is a rectangular ~45000 litre pool roughly 4m by 11m in size.

Pros: * no issues with installation or workmanship * I use less chemicals and salt to keep the pool clean. * UV doesn't reach the water that much anymore, so chlorine levels are maintained. * I top the pool up less with water * I have pumped more water out during winter than I have put in during summer * The cover is still very much in one piece and the 2022/2023 year has had a few rough storms and windy days. * The cover helps the pool retain heat, no matter how windy it is. * The ratchets and straps are still going strong, even though it's exposed to weather 24/7. * My 1 1/2 year old has walked over it already but does know that he is not allowed to now - so the cover does give me a much better peace of mind with regards to his safety. i.e if myself or my wife are not present, the pool is not open.

Cons: * You do need to try and keep it clean, dust build up does become more difficult to clean the longer it stays on. * small 'puddles' seem to form on certain spots that leads to a bit of discolouration due to the sun baking only those spots vs the rest of the cover being dry. * If you want to stay dry, two people is best to open the cover up. (it is easiest to get into the pool and roll it up) * you can't 'quickly' jump in to cool down, but you can open it up a little to get in ... opening up the entire pool becomes more difficult as the more you roll the cover, the heavier it becomes.

Overall notes: If I had a choice, I would do it again - the cover has helped me save on water costs, salt costs from 2 bags per month to 2 bags every 3-4 months - I don't put stabilizer into the water anymore since UV doesn't impact the pool that much. The return on investment is worth it, especially if you spend a lot of money on chemicals, water to top up, effort in cleaning the water/filters/etc.
