Pont de Val wine tasting

Pont de Val is a wonderful, upmarket Spa resort, picknick, Wine tasting and restaurant venue en route to Parys on the Vall river, halfway between Vanderbijlpark and Parys. FINALLY a decent place to enjoy next to the river, enjoy a day outside in the glorious Highveld sunshine in lush manicured, well kept grass and gardens, with ample trees and views. Pont de Val claims to be a unique Wine tasting venue: While the setting is exquisite (al be it with an entrance fee of R50 to the resort), the winetasting experience was more than poor. 1. There is a R95 fee to do the winetasting (a rip-off in view of the fact that there are only 3 (average) wines to taste and the fact that I already pay R50 entrance fee to the resort), 2. Advertising hugely about a winetasting venue and then offering only 3 wines to taste leaves a rather "poor taste", excuse the pun. Pont de Val only makes 3 wines, fair enough, but I would then expect, and here is a suggestion, why not have 3 "similar" wines to taste as a comparison to your 3 wines (i.e. a Pinotage from Stellenbosch, and two Shiraz Merlot Cab blends). 3. The knowledge of the wine lady serving us was rather poor and some was factually incorrect. Finally, whilst not expecting a Stellenbosch-like wine tasting, the fanfare on Facebook, in media and on your sign boards, advertising the Winery big and bold, is rather misleading and left me disappointed. I was NOT disappointed with the venue, not disappointed with the novelty of a winery and wine tasting next to the Vaal River, but the tasting itself is so muted, so low key, so below par, it is sad and left me disappointed. It can very easily be upgraded to a daily, or weekend worthwhile wine tasting event and wine outing if you could add wines, and make it a superb visit, which it currently is not for wine-tasting purposes.
