POLMED - becoming the worst medical aid

In December 2018 Polmed Medical Aid Principal Officer sent members a communication about the year that passed, and changes for the year ahead, 2019 stating that there were benefit changes. Remember, Polmed YEAR is April to April. It has 2 Plans (Higher or Lower) or Marine and Aquariam as it is known now. For years, the benefit limit was increased, up to 2019, when they decided to make major financial changes that would actually affect their members pockets negatively. They did not disclose this in December 2018, but surprised their members in 2019 when the benefits were slashed. On the Marine option, acute benefit for 2018 was R17 000 per annum, it was slashed down to R7500 per annum if you had 1 dependent. The medical aid decided to discriminate on how many dependents you had on the medical aid. How unfair is that? The benefits went down and you on the higher plan, but the contributions went up as usual!!! Now, not even half way into the year, and your benefits are depleted. The reasoning for this is ***** and ********** claims. Can you believe that? If it was *****, find the culprits, fine them, ban them or terminate their memberships or fire them. but don't hold all of Polmed members hostage. Polmed is a benefit for members, most of whom are not in a privileged 9 to 5pm desk job, like the Executors who make these decisions while sitting comfortably at their oak furnished desks and comfy chairs. It is a dangerous perilous job, with alot of obstacles. Most spouses dont expect to see their other half coming home, and how depressing is that? so many of us rely on the medical aid. now most have to contend with paying out of their own pockets for medical services....thanks to the bright sparks at Polmed who cut on the benefits to save a few rands. i ask you.... Ms principal officer, what is more important to you.... a life or money? How much did you actually SAVE with cutting down on the benefits this year? Do you even know what your members have to go through emotionally and physically? Do you know what they see, in their line of duty? they take these home with them.... s****ing brains off the roads. And this is how you thank them.... by cutting down on the benefits, to save a few rands to make a profit, at your 9 to 5 job. Hope you get that huge bonus and 14th cheque, while members have to struggle and cough up for medical services. Polmed seems to be going from good to WORSE starting from 2019 under the new Exco. Polmed was about FAMILY. Dishing out benefits according to the number of dependents is ************** of the worst kind and a big FU to those who don't have big families. Polmed was never about how many children you had or how many wives you had. it seems that the POLMED value has changed in 2019. When will you be about your members???? who is responsible for such blatant **************?
