****************

Recently I visited my medscheme walk in office to resolve an issue regarding deduction for a period that my dependent was not an active member. According to my medical aid my dependent was removed from the scheme in November 2020. I was made aware of this vide sms from my medical aid admin. My daughter requested that I re-instate her due to financial issue because she was financially dependent on me. In January 2021 I re-instated her on the medical aid and she started utilising the benefits. My medical aid then started deducting double stating that I am responsible/liable for November, December and January arrears, When I asked why am I liable for these periods that my dependent was not on the scheme or allowed to utilise any of the benefits, I was told that this is their policy. I went through the policy document and found no such policy. Section 13 of the policy refers to lapse in payment of the monthly subscriptions/installments/premiums for a period of 30 days will result in the members facilities been suspended until the arrears are up to date. I did not lapse in my installments/subscriptions/premiums at any time, I am not and was not in arrears with anything. All I did was reinstate my dependent in the new financial year. This practice is broad **************** by medscheme and to make matters worse they have increased our premiums even though we did not get an increase. The increase in premiums was supposed to come into effect when we get an increase...but somehow this information did not filter through to them. The whole country is aware of this except medscheme. Can somebody please let me know who can assist with this issue
