If you are considering Pointer SA/ Mix Telematix/ Power Fleet as a tracking company: don't you will regret it, every step of the way. Once you sign that contract that is where it stops for them. I don't even know where to start. Our company had a tracking unit installed in one of our trucks by Mix Telematix. This unit was connected to the computer box of the truck resulting in accurate readings when pulling a trip report – exactly the same as the odometer readings of our truck. The rest of our trucks were with another tracking company, using satellite readings in order to produce a trip report. As a company we need our tracking reports to be in line with the truck’s odometer readings. After extensive research, phone calls and meetings we made the decision to move all our tracking to Mix Telematix. A sales representative came to see us and explained that Mix Telematix will be migrating to Power Fleet, but the products will work exactly as the unit we had in the one truck that was previously installed through Mix Telematix. We specifically asked for units that will be connected to the computer box in order to generate accurate readings. We signed and emailed the contract on through 11 August 2025 It took forever to get the units installed. It took numerous emails and phone calls to get this done. We had to follow up from our side on a daily basis. Our Johannesburg trucks got installed, but it took another week before it was visible on our side on the Power Fleet platform. Then it became clear that the units were not using cam data (a connection to the truck’s computer box) to produce data, but rather satellite data. I reported this, nothing got done. The sales representative informed me that there is a cable/adaptor wat supposed to be installed during installation and it was never installed. This past weekend I eventually got them to come out and install these cables on the Johannesburg trucks (21 September 2025 – 6 weeks of begging and fighting later) The result would you ask? The trucks stopped transmitting all together. Phoned and emailed again – today – one is transmitting, two are not transmitting, and now one of the trucks in East London is not transmitting either. Then came the struggle to get the East London, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town truck installations done. I had to phone and email numerous times. The technicians would go out and only do some of the vehicles, due to numerous reasons – for example, no sim cards supp****, personal problems, incorrect units etc. After the first installations 4 weeks into the process one truck was not installed, one truck had issues with his indicators and doors that would not lock and unlock. So on goes the fighting. During this time one of our trucks ended up being without any trucking device due to the fact that we’ve cancelled our previous tracking with the previous tracking company and Power Fleet took forever to get the units installed. Is it a good product? NO – the tracking reports are unreliable – many of our delivery points are not reflecting on the reports, missing data, constant incident alerts reporting that there was high impacts on the trucks, but no such thing when you phone the driver on the truck. The trucks are still not using cam data, inaccurate readings supp****. Customer service – I would not even rate it at 1/10 – you email, get supp**** with a “ticket” and then no response from anyone, a few days later the ticket gets closed as it was “resolved” – clearly not. It took more than 5 weeks to get an API signed by them in order to supply this to Go Metro. Maybe try and phone Power Fleet? Good luck – you will stay on the line holding for 10 to 20 minutes and then the call will get dropped. Ask the receptionist to get someone to phone you back – not happening. If you do get hold of someone you just get told that they did not respond to the email/ or did not return the call as it is not part of their job – but they don’t forward the email to the relevant person. I have requested numerous times for a representative from Power Fleet to come and do some basic training with us, hoping that we might be able to fix a few of the issues, but they don’t even bother to respond to me.
