No consumer friendly return policy at PNA

On 19 December I bought stationery to the value of R1 018 for my grade 8 son, knowing that we are going on holiday. Yesterday, I realised that his current calculator is still working and in good order and today I decided to return the unused calculator, which is still in its original packaging. (Value R220). My request for a refund was refused and I was told that I should have returned it within 10 days. My pleas that I was overseas and that surely the 10 days should not apply over Christmas holidays fell on deaf ears. Their 10 day return policy is not stated on their invoices or reflected at the tills in the shop. Their policy on the till slip says" We regret no cash refunds/no exchange without a valid receipt", which I presented to them.
