Broken promises

I had the unfortunate experience of being introduced to Johan-David Engelbrecht and his endless stream of promises that where never kept. I contracted him to do a new installation at my home for a sum of R140 000.00. I paid a deposit of 70% approximately R90 000.00 and he started immediately. Thereafter things started going wrong, he claimed to have vehicle problems and then staff problems and the work stagnated. 6 months later almost no work was done, nevertheless he approached me and said he would complete the job over the December holidays if I paid him the balance. To my regret I conceded and paid him the money with his assurance that the work would be done. This never happened and even when I contacted him and came to another agreement that he would supply the outstanding materials and that we would install it ourselves (a concession that would save him) he still failed to honour this. My sympathy to anyone that has the unfortunate opportunity to cross paths with possibly the most dishonest plumbing contractor around. Never in my 20 years of contracting have I met a person with as many varied and colourfull excuses as Johan Engelbrecht. Do your self a favour and avoid any contact with him and his partners.
