Disfunctional Business- stay away!

Playground Wizards came highly recommended as a company that manufactures play houses for kids and wendy houses. We ordered a playhouse for our daughter’s 5th Birthday, a joint gift from us as her parents and all her grandparents. We were told the lead time is 6-8 weeks from when the deposit of R7,350 is paid, which we paid 27/03/2018. About 4 weeks in, I did a follow up, just to make sure that everything was still on track for the delivery before the birthday. This is when I started getting an uneasy feeling as the admin lady I dealt with has resigned, and the busines owner, Brian, made contact with me making all kinds of excuses about the rain delaying the process etc. He assured me, however, that I had nothing to worry about and thay our play house will be ready in time for the birthday- 25 May. The day arrived and we got a phonecall from Brian saying his workers are striking and the house is not complete but he “just needs 2 hours” to see what he can do. The weekend past and we still had no house. This meant no birthday gift for our daughter. When I spoke to him on the phone, he started crying. I felt sorry for him but I also feel this is extremely unprofessional. He then promised us a refund of our deposit, but another week later and we still don’t have our money or our playhouse. It was a very disappointing birthday for our daughter and we are all really upset about the entire ordeal. We cant even buy her another gift because our money has not been returned.
