Warranty *****
Dodging 3-year warranty responsibilities and duty, and playing dumb over email and phone. I am disgusted by Platinum Warranty.
The jist: I bought a gaming laptop from EveTech around Oct 2019, with a 3-year On-site warranty. There were problems with the laptop from the start, overheating and throttling, and eventually the charging port stopped working so I contacted EveTech to repair/replace it. EveTech and Platinum was very difficult to work with regarding this. Not replying to emails timeously or thoroughly. Not explaining things properly or handling the situation. Then Platinum would not come on-site to repair or fetch the laptop but wanted me to pay R660 for delivery to them, saying on-site means I bring it to them!!. Then they declared that my warranty was now void, because of cosmetic damage to the other side of the laptop from the charging port. I knew the latop still worked because the cosmetic damage happened before the charging port stopped working and if I held the charging cable just right, it would charge and work fine. And I have evidence of this. It took many phone calls and emails, and much anger and frustration ,to finally get things like my purchase invoice to submit a warranty claim as well as get the warranty document explaining the terms of the warranty. The warranty document does not say the warranty is void due to cosmetic damage. But stopped replying to me after I pointed this out. It has been a year since then and still no replies.
I also tried contacting Lenovo directly and it turns out they only see a 1-year warranty registered against my laptop serial number.
Platinum are falsely claiming they are not liable for the faulty laptop, by lying about the terms of the warranty or playing ******** of the true meaning of the warranty.
Excerpt from warranty: "This Limited Warranty does not cover: a. defects or damage resulting from accident, misuse, abnormal use, abnormal conditions, improper storage, exposure to liquid, moisture, dampness, sand or dirt, neglect, or unusual physical, electrical or electromechanical stress;"
I have usage logs for months after the date of photos taken of the cosmetic damage, to prove the cosmetic damage resulted in no defects, the charging port is on the opposite side of the laptop and if held in a perfect way, would make contact and charge until even that stopped working.
This was their ultimate excuse: "Unfortunately, there service center has rejected the device to be repaired as the unit has physical damaged and attempting to repair any unit which has physical damaged may caused more issue to occur."
How is this even vaguely acceptable as an excuse.
If you would like any further information regarding this case, I will be happy to provide it. Lawyers tell me I should "bring them to heel"
