Ridiculous Claim Requirements

A friend mine has a cancer policy with Platinum life. Her husband passed away and she is trying to claim on the policy as her husband passed away with prostate cancer. Platinum Life's requirement for a simple claim is absolutely ridiculous. She had to pay R600 at Groote Schuur hospital to obtain a copy of the doctor's notes of consultations for the last 5 years. They also request copies of scans and histology reports and 8 pages for the treating GP and Specialist to complete. I personally so glad my spouse cancelled her policy with Platinum life as their claims requirements is a traumatic process especially when it's small monies. After losing a loved one, you do not need such agonizing claim requirements. She has to go back to Groote Schuur hospital to have the claim forms filled in by the treating doctors after already paying R600 for copies of the treating doctors notes. Which is approximately 100 pages. Platinum Life called me to offer me a free gift as a friend recommended me. I'm glad I turned down their free gift and my wife cancelled her policy with them.
