Platinum Life ****

I received call from a male, a sales executive as stated by the sms I received after the call. This person advised that he was calling from Platinum Life. He/they(the company) informed me that I have been shortlisted for a competition I had entered. The conversation then went to a sales pitch about a policy that would cover me for female cancers. I was hesitant to accept the product he pitched me. I advised that I’d like to see the policy documents before I commit to anything but he went on to convince me it would better to have the benefit. Throughout that conversation I was hesitant, skeptical, had my doubts and kept asking questions. However he pressed on to convince me to provide my details(bankimg details and such) and advised I would receive documents for me to review and that I have 30 days to decide if I want the policy(I have not received the documents). With previous experience from other companies documents are sent shortly after the call without committing to anything. Me being the push over and the nice guy that I am not wanting to be rude gave him my bank details and such after he advised that I can cancel within 30 days and I’d be debited R129.00 monthly. A lesson to anybody who reads this, don't ever provide your banking details over the phone. I knew this but I still did it to my regret. Also don't ever give in to sales of any sort over the phone if you're not interested. If you don't want a product just say no. If want you a policy or any product to suit your needs see the people in person and from companies you know and trust. Anyway...I gave in, my mistake. It was advised that they use debicheck and that I needed to authorize the the debit order. Well I thought to myself I will just not authorize it. I received an sms from my bank stating that the authorization request expired. I thought great, no worries. Not so there's worried. My bank must have failed me because I received an sms advising Registered Mandate INSURE PLA Ref: (reference omitted) DebitAmt:R129 Monthly on the 1st. The debit order mandate has been initiated however I have not signed any agreements nor did I agree to having my account debited. I then checked my banking app and notice that the creditors shortened name is INSURE PLA same as on the sms however the Credtors name is GUARDRISK.

Dear Philiswa,

Thank you so much for taking my call regarding this matter.

All our business is conducted over the phone and if you are contacted for a policy and you are interested in the offer, your details are captured. Documentation is sent out via email within 2 weeks and you enjoy a 30 day review period before the policy is set to start. On conclusion of a sale, a DebiCheck mandate is sent. This mandate is a secure payment system which allows you as the account holder to approve your debit order details, but please note that no deduction will occur until your review period has passed.

You should never feel pressured into taking a policy can you can cancel at any time. I have requested the call made to you to follow up on the sale and the manner in which it was offered. A cancellation has also been processed and nothing will be issued out in your name.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist with

Kind Regards
