No is no when canceling an policy !!!

I have had a policy with them for a few years and the because I am financially strapped at the moment I had to cancel the policy with them as I could not afford this policy when I started with it used to cost around R400 a month when I canceled it a few months ago I was paying around R2500 a month. Their call center lady kept on calling me with new offers and all of a sudden bringing the cost down to R397.89 which is not bad but as I said I am cash-strapped due to being under debt review I could still not afford this. Now the last time we spoke she (the sales lady) convinced me to a proof a debt mandate so that she can send me a revised quotation I agreed to do this as she was persistent and she promised me that she will call me to find out if I wanted to continue or cancel the new offer which never happened and then the debt order went off on my account I tried to block it and also send Platnum Life an email stating that they deducted my account and the agreement was that she would call my back to confirm if I wanted the policy or not all they had to say was we do not refund but will cancel the next debit order, because of this debt a more needed account could not get paid and I had to borrow money to cover the other accounts payment. they have agreed eventually to pay me back it is now the 10th of the month still no refund. I wish these companies could just accept it if you cancel with them and tell them I can't afford it leave you alone, and wurst of it all that money I have paid into their policy over the last few years I will never see.

Dear Morne,

I have received your review and tried to contact you regarding this matter but was unable to reach you.

I had a look at the policy and also had a listen to the call made to you by Danielle regarding the deduction and decrease of your premium. In the call, she did give the option for the lower premium to only start at the end of July and revert back after a period of 6 months. There was no mention made of a call back being done prior to the debit starting and I apologize if there was a misunderstanding due to this.

Kindly note that your cancellation was received and processed and a refund has been arranged for the premium deducted. As we have to await confirmation from the bank regarding the successful receipt of the premium, the refund will be paid on the 14th of August 2023. A consultant will be in touch within a week to assist with cancellation

Please note that the calls can be sent through via email if needed. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist with

Kind Regards

Thank you for your response, have you also listened to all the previous calls, how many times have I told her I can't afford it and how many times has she tried to convince me? and in the last conversation was my word to her not that I can't afford it. But yes she is doing her work that is sales but also no means no is that not. But in any case, the unwanted deduction cost me extra money in the end, but I will await the pay back it is just very convenient that I have to wait for the refund but you guys could not wait to take the money from my account. Please make sure the payment reflects in my account on the 14th of August 2023. Thank you
