How hard can it be to cancel a policy I never gave a go ahead on ?!

I received a call from a call from one of the sales reps. He was very friendly and gave me the whole razel dazel version of the policy not informing about the cost regarding the police. after a while, he asked my details and said that they will phone to confirm my details (I never got the confirmation call) He also told me that I will receive an e-mail with all the policy details and that I should after a certain period of time give them a go ahead on this policy( I never got the email I also never gave the go ahead) The next my bank account??? I have phoned numerous times to try to cancel this policy and to hopefully get my money back but it's a dead end.
