****************, IT'S THEIR FAULT NOW I'M ASKED TO PAY

On the 1st of February 2021, I bought a vehicle from We Buy Cars a 2013 Jeep Compas , and this is not the first vehicle that I bought from We Buy cars. So based on my previous experience with buying cars from We buy cars, I drove the vehicle for four days then I decided to take the vehicle for a service. The gentleman who works at we Buy Cars a dvised me to take my vehicle to Platinum Auto in Glen Ashley. When I went to Platinum Auto they took the vehicle in, and they advised me that it will be ready the following day as they were going to do a major service on the vehicle. I said it was okay. I then fetched my car as per their instruction. I then drove off, as I was driving my sister noticed that there's a serious smell of oil. I told her maybe it was due to the fact that the car had just been serviced, as we continued to drive the heating gauge went up and the vehicle was overheating. I contacted Trevor at PLATINUM AUTO and told him that my car is overheating and it has never done that before. He told me to bring the vehicle back to them. I did so, after two days he calls me and tells that it's leaking and that We Buy Cars sold me a broken vehicle and I must take it up with them. They said they will order a new part and put in my car but it's going to cost me R21 000.He tried to pass the buck and I informed him that the vehicle had no problem before I brought it to them for a service. One of their employees then said, "when we were doing the service removed a plug that was used to block the oil spill because the previous owner had used something that wasn't supposed to be used on the vehicle" after he said that, they started arguing amongst themselves. Then TREVOR came out and said they will fix the vehicle but I will have to pay. When I asked why must I pay for something that your employees broke? He then went back and forth trying to pass the buck again. I then told him that I wanted to take matter further to his senior management but that was ignored and I was informed that he will be charging me storage,it's either I fix my vehicle with them or I come and collect it.

PLATINUM AUTO is a ***** and they want to take advantage of innocent people and exploit them.

5/2/2021-A major service was done on this client’s (Mrs Mbatha) vehicle. Mike, the Workshop Manager advised Mrs Mbatha that the vehicle has a leaking radiator inlet pipe. She was advised NOT to drive the vehicle as the engine would overheat. She advised him that she will drive the vehicle for 7 km and park it off. Mike made the emphasis that Platinum Auto will NOT BE RESPONSIBLE for any mechanical damages/consequential loss if the vehicle is driven with a leaking pipe.  She then went to fetch her sister about 15 km away from her home when she called Platinum Auto advising that the engine is overheating, engine cuts off and she cannot start the vehicle. She was requested to bring the vehicle back to Platinum Auto.  FRA Towing uplifted the vehicle from Berea to us. The radiator inlet pipe was then ordered upon client’s request.

10/2/2021 –A new inlet pipe was fitted to the vehicle.  The client paid for the pipe and towing fee. She drove the vehicle back to the workshop because of overheating, and upon inspection, Mike discovered the gasket had blown.  He advised the client that the following repairs must be undertaken, cost will be about +-R25000
·         The thermostat must be replaced.
·         The gasket must be replaced.
·         The cylinder head to be sent to the engineers for skimming etc.
We wish reiterate that upon client’s request, Platinum Auto carried out the MAJOR SERVICE ONLY.
The consequential damages that arose from the leaking radiator inlet pipe to the engine was NOT as a result of DEFECTIVE WORKMANSHIP NOR NEGLIGENCE caused by PLATINUM Auto and we, therefore, cannot accept or be held responsible for the resultant mechanical damages sustained to her vehicle.
Trevor Pillay, the Director informed the client that if this matter is not resolved by Thursday, 5 March 2021, storage fees will be charged at a rate of R450-00 plus VAT, per day.

WE WOULD LIKE TO ADD THE FOLLOWING:
1.Her car was serviced on the 5 February  2021 and was collected the very same day and NOT the day after.
2.She was informed by Mike our Workshop Foreman, on the 5 February 2021, on the day of service whilst the client was waiting for the service to be completed, that the radiator inlet pipe must be replaced and she must not drive the car.
3.We DID NOT at any stage say that, We Buy Cars sold her a broken car merely advised her to discuss it with We Buy Cars.
4.Client was advised that a patch up repair was done by the previously.
  5. Mike DID NOT tamper, break nor interfere with the radiator inlet pipe.
6.We did advise client to report her complaint with RMI to which we are affiliated and they will  investigate and report back on their findings. SHE FAILED TO DO SO. She lodged a complaint with the Dept of Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs, Consumer Protection Services, dated 3 MARCH 2021 under reference KZN.vd.1903.
7.Platinum Auto takes no responsibility for the leaking radiator inlet pipe as it was an existing problem.Consequential damages to the engine was caused by client’s failure to replace the leaking pipe when we advised her.
We do take a strong exception to her allegations/accusations by posting them on Hellopeter in an attempt to discredit and tarnish our reputation. We will seriously consider instituting legal proceedings for defamation.
