GBVF Mural Plascon Paint Support

Plascon showed up when we needed them most

We are incredibly grateful to Plascon for donating the paint that made our Soweto GBVF awareness mural possible.

This was a community and creative-led initiative with no budget for paint. Because Plascon stepped in, more than 100 people were able to participate outside Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, including artists, taxi owners and drivers, hospital staff, nurses, security personnel, community members, older residents and children as young as nine.

The mural has since received significant media attention and is being recognised as the longest GBVF awareness mural in Africa. The project has also led to an invitation to Côte d'Ivoire, where the work will be honoured with an award.

This is not the first time Plascon has supported our creative initiatives. They have helped us bring murals to life across the country, often simply because they believe in the work and its impact.

Without their paint, this mural would not have happened. Thank you, Plascon, for continuously showing up for artists, communities and meaningful social causes.
