Service Delivery and Staff exploitation
We hosted a surprise 20th wedding anniversary celebration for about 30 guests at Plantation Café. While the food was beautifully prepared and well-presented, the overall experience was unfortunately let down by the service.
There was only one staff member assigned to our entire group. He served the starters, cleared plates, served the main course, cleared again, and even handled drink orders — all on his own. It was painful to watch such an obvious case of staff being overworked, and as expected, the service suffered as a result.
What made the situation worse was being charged a R650 service fee, despite the clear lack of adequate service staff. This felt unreasonable and unfair, especially considering the circumstances.
Our event was special, and while the food was good, the poor service delivery and apparent staff exploitation overshadowed the experience. I hope management takes this seriously and improves both staffing and customer service going forward.
