Unfair business practice

26/08/2022 I have a complaint about Planet42 and their ******ion of consumers in the way they do business. I rented a vehicle from them and the price of the vehicle was R59000.00. I have been paying the vehicle for two and a half years and then my financial standing improved as I paid off my debts and was removed from Debt review. I contacted them enquiring about buying the vehicle from them so that it could be my property. They then informed me I could purchase the vehicle for the amount of R60000.00. I then opted for retuning the vehicle back to them as I still had another 30 months to pay for the vehicle and they then informed me I needed to pay R37000.00 for cancelling the contract. But then they offered me the option of returning the vehicle and paying a cancellation fee of R5024 which I then accepted. I then bought a new vehicle and could return their vehicle. So I informed them via e-mail I would wait for their debit order of R5024 to go off my account and then return the vehicle the next day. So then they would have the cancellation fee for R5024 and the vehicle back as agreed. The payment was paid via debt order on the evening of 2nd August and so this means it would have reflected in their account on the 3rd August; I returned the vehicle to them on the 3rd. So the matter I need advice on is as follows; they received the cancellation fee and the vehicle on the same day. Nowhere in any of their correspondence with me was I made aware of a late return of the vehicle penalty. Now they are claiming a late return penalty of R5024 from me and have send a non-payment alert to the credit bureau on my name. My common-sense and logic do not comprehend this. They received their payment on the 3rd; I returned the vehicle on the 3rd, so how can there be a late return penalty? How can they give a non-payment alert to the credit bureau when there was no non-payment? They are withholding my right to getting a paid up letter for the cancellation payment and returning of me vehicle to them as per the agreement on their offer they made me and I accepted. I hope there is someone that will assist me with this matter and give me advice on how to go forward. Regards Rene Lemmer
